The Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM, German Touring Car Masters)
The Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM, German Touring Car Masters) is a race series based in Germany, but also with rounds elsewhere in mainland Europe. After much searching for a company who could deliver a turnkey solution to their expectations, BMW contracted Excellent Structures to design, manufacture and construct a unique, high-end event space to house their drivers and VIP lounge for the 2015, ‘16 & ’17 DTM Touring cars season.
The key objective of the project was to create a temporary, stand-alone high-end functional marketing space with amenities for both the drivers and VIP guests. The temporary structure had to represent the client’s brand image with a luxurious look, powerful aesthetics and high impact branding potential – therefore allowing the temporary building to serve as an advertisement itself.
Due to the tight race schedule, the building had to be installed and removed in cycles of 14 days. To achieve this the building design needed to ensure seamless logistics from one circuit to another with an efficient removal and installation process that didn’t sacrifice the key criteria of the buildings aesthetics.
Excellent Structures designed and manufactured an innovative Manhattan double storey temporary structure. The building measured 17.50m x 40.00m which included a 2.50m x 40.00m viewing balcony, floor to ceiling glass on both levels with internal and external staircases for accessing the upper floor.
Excellent Structures delivered a complete “turnkey” solution to BMW including installation of the kitchens, toilets, power distribution, HVAC, Audio-visual, carpeting, lighting installation, furnishing the interior space and branding the exterior elevations. The entire solution was delivered over a period of 4 days per event for the build and removed over a 3 day period.
